About Us

Emerging Artist Magazine got its start from the idea that we could place media focus, by casting a global net, on the emerging art market. In the US alone, by our estimation, there are 1.5 million unrepresented emerging artists. That number could be in the area of 35 million globally. The attention the main stream media gives is negligible, there are only a handful of national and international magazines covering this market of art. While we are a magazine focused on covering artists globally, we are a small grass roots non profit organization that is breaking into the marketplace.

Our goal is to provide high quality coverage of artists, art shows, collectors and galleries and to begin to educate and grow a new generation of art collectors that crosses the boundaries of class.

Our History

Emerging Artist Magazine was founded by an artist advocate in August of 2011 as a promotional tool to accent a monthly art show he hosted in Portland, Oregon. He started it as EA Zine, as a local eco-friendly art magazine, with editions available online and in the US and Europe via on-demand printing through Amazon.com. In January of 2012, he partnered with Autumn Steam to produce the magazine with a bigger goal to cover more artists and review more galleries. After ending the art shows in October of 2012, he and Steam began talks of transitioning the magazine over to a completely online publication in November of 2012, completing the migration in January of 2013. As we look towards 2014 we have a renewed energy to report on emerging artists. Steam took over responsibilities as Executive Editor in September of 2013.

Our Mission

EAM exists to bring light to contemporary art by offering tools to educate the general public on art appreciation, discovery, and collection and to be a voice in the United States and around the world for artists who may otherwise go unheard.
