A NOTE FROM THE EDITOR

I started Emerging Artist Magazine (EA Zine) with the idea that we could place media focus, by casting a global net, on the emerging art market. In the US alone, by my own estimation, there are 1.5 million unrepresented emerging artists. That number could be in the area of 35 million globally. The attention the main stream media gives is negligible, there are only a handful of national and international magazines covering this market of art. Part of my inspiration has come from the zine (pronounce: zeen) community which has stepped up to cover emerging fringe and new art. While we are a magazine focused on covering artists globally we are still technically a Zine that is breaking into the marketplace, hence our name. Our goal is to provide high quality coverage of artists, art shows, galleries and gallerists; to give artists the tools they need to stay competitive in this new global art marketplace; and to begin to grow new generations of art collectors that cross the boundaries of class. Partnered with my not-for-profit project, Emerge Underground, it is my desire to entice artists from around the world to come to Portland, Oregon to take part in the cultivation of the emerging art marketplace here.

Thank you,

The Founder
